Educational Visits

At Knightlow, educational visits are seen as an integral part of our school aims, vision and values as they provide valuable opportunities for meeting children’s educational, physical, spiritual, social, cultural and creative needs. They have specific educational purpose and promote our belief that learning happens anywhere and all of the time. Not only do educational visits enhance and contextualise curriculum learning opportunities but they present opportunities for our children to develop an appreciation of God’s world; to value and respect themselves and their own personal development and to learn about other people and the environments that they live within.  Importantly, educational visits also improve cultural capital, helping us to prepare our children for future success and fulfilment in their lives.

At Knightlow we plan a range of educational visits and residential experiences for our children that include, but are not limited to:

Visits to local amenities within the village of Stretton-on Dunsmore, such as the village church, allotment, post-office and farmland.

Half or full day visits to places such as theatres, galleries, museums and places of worship.

Sporting fixtures involving travel to another school or local venues.

Outdoor and adventurous activities.

Residential visits within the UK

All visits are rigorously planned and organised to maximise learning potential. Most visits are planned well in advance and are integral to our long term curriculum plans, but we also take advantage of opportunities that present themselves in the short term, if we recognise their educational value and they are value for money.
