• Assessments and 2023 Results

  Once again we are really pleased to see the great attainment and progress of our children at Knightlow as shown in the 2023 assessment outcomes. This year is the first since 2019 where results have been published in full and detailed information on our school's outcomes can be found under the 'Key Information' tab, where you can select the link to 'School Performance Data'. 

  It is rewarding to see how well all groups have done, especially as we continue to recover from the impact of Covid-19. This is a tribute to the work that families put in on home learning in the two lockdowns, and the way that staff planned and supported this home learning, as well as the recovery plans that were actioned when the children came back to school. 

  It remains our ambition for all children to succeed and do their best in core subjects, but not to compromise on offering a rich and imaginative learning experience for them that means they can pursue all areas of the curriculum and enjoy their time at Knightlow to the full.

  NB: Due to the impact of Coronavirus, there were no official external results for children in Reception, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 6 for both 2020 and 2021. In 2022, this changed as external assessments were reintroduced for children throughout schools in England and, whilst the results as a whole were not published as league tables for 2022, they can also be found under Key Information. 

• Healthy Snacks and Lunchboxes

  As a school we try to promote healthy food choices and encourage the children to try a wide variety of foods. Our school meals are provided by Educaterers and we do have an exceptionally high uptake of people choosing hot meals which are prepared each day in school.  Having a tasty lunchtime meal which is well balanced and fills the children full of goodness not only helps them keep warm in the colder weather but also sets them up for the afternoon ahead. 

  Of course, not all children enjoy school meals and prefer to bring in a packed lunch. We really like to see the children having healthy lunchboxes and morning breaktime snacks too and we know that this is exactly what you as parents aim to provide for them each day. The snacks and items that we prefer children to bring are outlined in our Healthy Food Policy which can be found under 'Key Information' and 'Policies'.

  

• Uniform Guidance

  Our school uniform displays our Knightlow logo and the colours traditionally associated with the school: burgundy and yellow. Many of our uniform items are plain and are available from local supermarkets and chain stores, with just a few items displaying the logo, all available from Your School Uniform.

  The Uniform Guidance for Parents is available under the 'Parents' tab and shows expected uniform. It also clarifies what accessories and shoes the children should be wearing and what we do and do not allow for health and safety reasons, and for aesthetic reasons too We ask that all parents and families follow this guidance so the children come to school looking smart and in suitable clothes for school.

• The Halo Code

  Our school is signed up to the Halo Code, which champions the right of staff and students to embrace all Afro-hairstyles, and acknowledges that hair with an Afro-texture may require specific styling for hair health and maintenance.

• Celebrating Eid

  On Tuesday 18th April, the children were treated to Eid workshops led by Mrs Brown and a wonderfully informative visit from Mr Hanga, Safiyya's Daddy. The children were enthralled by everything Mr Hanga shared with them about Eid and how his family celebrate such a special occasion. They were full of thoughts and questions, and each classroom talk could easily have lasted twice as long and the children would not have run out of things to ask!

  We are also really grateful for the gifts for each class of delicious dates and the book 'Little Leena Learns About Ramadan' written by Zainab Fadlallah, Safiyya's Mummy. We loved learning more and hope that all those celebrating Eid had a joyful and blessed weekend. 

   

  

• Key Stage 2 Success

  In 2019, we were thrilled to receive a letters from Nick Gibb, Minister of State for Education, congratulating us on our Phonics results, and on our Key Stage 2 Results. 

  In Key Stage 2, the hard work and determination of the children, and the focused, inspiring teaching they received, meant that their results were in the top 1% in the country. We were very proud of the children - they really were a model for how to work hard, learn well and be responsible for their own efforts. We are also very grateful for the wonderful support and teaching that Mrs Brown, Mrs Singh and Mrs Gardner provided for them. Well done, everyone!

• Phonics Success

  We were pleased to receive a letter of congratulations in 2019 from Nick Gibb, Minister for Education, congratulating us on being in the top 2% of schools nationally for our outstanding phonics results in Year 1. There have been no official results since then, but our internal assessments show that the children are still achieving excellent results.

  We continue to work hard to make sure the children are really familiar with the different phonics phases as we know this helps them to read effectively in their early years as readers, so it is great to know that the hard work of the children, parents and staff is paying off. 

• Knightlow Success

  We were delighted to receive our Artsmark Gold Award over the Summer Holidays. I am sure many of you will know how hard everyone has worked to show just how effective our learning in the Arts is - from our many sharing assemblies and musical extravanganzas, to the performances at school, church and Coventry Cathedral; from the Stories4Schools book publication to our Arts Sharing Days for colleagues and children across Warwickshire; from the range of music tuition to our family art challenges and our creative learning approach, we try to always focus on developing the arts and offering opportunities for the children to flourish. Those of you who are regularly in school will know that the children love their learning in the arts, and I am sure you will congratulate them and the staff on such a great outcome. 

   

  "The arts can enhance education and the school experience and the pupils of Knightlow C of E Primary School showed that very clearly. I congratulate them, their teachers, the Arts Council, Artsmark and Arts Connect for all that has been achieved."
